Maharishi School of Media organized a one-day educational visit to the National Broadcaster of India DD News, Copernicus Marg, Mandi House, New Delhi-110001

The Maharishi School of Media organized a one-day educational visit to the National Broadcaster of India DD News, Copernicus Marg, Mandi House, New Delhi-110001, on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, between 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. Ms. Ritu Prashar, HOD, MSM along with staff members, faculties and students of the department visited the News Channel.


During the visit to the DD News studios, students were mentored by Chief News Anchor and Senior Editor Mr. Ashok Shrivastav. He gave the group a tour of the newsroom and critiqued their presenting skills in the studio. The students were guided around the production studios and were shown the sets where all the recording takes place. They explained the difference between Real and Virtual sets. The visit focused around learning the technicalities and the functions taking place behind the scenes in the functioning of a TV channel. The students learnt about the PCR, Studio, Newsroom, how news is fired and most importantly the working of a News Channel.

The students were also taken to the Server Room where they saw how the prepared programs were lined up to be uploaded to the satellite. 

During this visit to Doordarshan, Shri Mayank Kumar Agarwal, Director General, Doordarshan  gave his valuable time and interacted with the students of Maharishi School of Media. He gave some tips to be successful in the field of media. He said that "If you want to move forward in the field of media, then you have to develop the habit of reading, develop the ability to put your thoughts into words. Then only you can become a good media person." Along with this, Mr. Aggarwal also wished the students for the future.

The aim of the visit to the channel was to familiarize the journalists- in- making with the reality of their craft, in the electronic media. The students shared an interaction with different reporters, editors in the Channel. They demonstrated the process of converting events, occurring in day-to-day life, into news stories for the public. The students were also guided about career prospects in the news channel.

The trip to Doordarshan was really educational and eye opening since the students were able to get a taste of how the Electronic Media industry operates in real life. The various departments in Doordarshan also gave students an insight on to what fields exist behind the scenes.
