Maharishi University of Information Technology (MUIT) was established in the name of world-famous spiritual Guru Maharishi Mahesh Yogi ji.
The Maharishi University of Information Technology (MUIT) was established under MUIT Uttar Pradesh Act No. 31 of 2001 Notification no 573 dated 06 October, 2001. It is listed under the List of Private Universities as notified on 24th September, 2013. MUIT is one of the very few best IT Universities in the region with a multidisciplinary approach. It caters to academic aspirants from all nearby cities besides those from all around the country and outside.
The Maharishi University of Information Technology (MUIT) has been established with the following vision:
“The vision of MUIT is to transform the potentiality of each student into actuality and the full unfoldment of their mental potential through Creative Intelligence. Enhancing the employability and entrepreneurship potential is the thrust focus in the vision of MUIT”.
Besides being a seat of learning and higher studies, the University also lays a great emphasis on overall development of the students by the way of regular practice of Transcendental Meditation.
Transcendental Meditation (TM)- It is the simple, natural and effortless technique to unfold the full creative potential of higher consciousness latent in every individual. His Holiness, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, brought TM to the world in 1957.
MUIT has been recognized and included in the list of Universities, maintained by the UGC under section 2 (f) of the UGC Act, 1956.
History
The University is a part of Maharishi Group. The university was established in 2001 (under MUIT Uttar Pradesh Act No. 31 of 2001 Notification no 573 dated 06 October, 2001). Later in 2013 it was notified as Private University. It started its first academic session in 2014 with a few students and Faculty member under the leadership of Prof. H. K. Singh who joined in the capacity of Vice Chancellor. Since then the University has progressed steadily and gradually towards administrative and academic excellence in terms of its infrastructure, student intake, human resource, international and national collaborations etc.
Campuses
The University has two campuses, one at Lucknow (Main Campus) and the other at Noida.
The University Main Campus is at Sitapur Road, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
The other campus is at Maharishi Nagar, Noida, Uttar Pradesh

Both the campuses are situated at strategic locations that are well connected by road, rail and air transport. Both campuses are spread out in a vast expanse of land that is well maintained aesthetically and houses administrative and academic buildings.
The campuses are Wi-Fi enabled. They have separate girls’ and boys’ hostel along with mess facility for students coming from outside the city. They also have library, computer labs and labs of other disciplines, Engineering workshop, Gymnasium, Meditation Hall etc.
